How the Vinted profit calculation works
Your net profit is the sale price minus everything you spent to make that sale happen. Four numbers cover almost every listing:
- Sale price — what the buyer pays for the item itself.
- Item cost — what you paid, whether that was a car boot sale, an outlet, a wholesale bundle or a charity shop. Cheap finds still cost money.
- Packaging — mailer, tissue, tape, a printed label. Tiny per item, and easy to forget across a hundred sales.
- Postage you cover — usually zero, because Vinted buyers pay for delivery. It matters when you offer free or discounted shipping to shift stale stock.
What about Vinted fees?
The Buyer Protection fee that appears at checkout is added on top of your price and paid by the buyer, so it does not come out of your payout. Private sellers have not been charged a selling commission in Vinted's main markets, which is why the seller fee line above reads zero. Professional (Pro) accounts are billed differently and terms vary by country. This calculator reads its rates from one configuration file that the Hemly extension shares, so the two never disagree.

Why margin matters more than profit
€6 on a €10 dress is a 60% margin; €8 on a €60 coat is 13%. The second sale earns more in cash, but the first turns your money over far faster — and turnover is what a reseller's income is actually made of. Watch the percentage as you set prices, and use it to decide what to restock rather than what felt like a good day.
